New coast-to-coast services boost growing interest in rail freight in India

India’s rail freight sector is growing with new coast to-coast corridors. DP World launched two routes from Gujarat (Bhimasar and Hazira) to Kolkata, offering twice-monthly services with 7–8 day transit times and 90 TEU capacity. These routes speed up movement of goods like oils, chemicals, steel, and grains, connecting western manufacturing hubs with eastern trade centers.
Maersk Delivers Solid Q2 but Signals Caution Ahead

Maersk reported impressive Q2 2025 results, with EBITDA rising 7% year-on-year to $2.3 billion and revenues climbing 3% to $13.1 billion, both surpassing analyst expectations. The company has raised its full-year EBITDA outlook to $8–9.5 billion, citing resilient demand outside North America. However, despite the strong performance, analysts caution that the optimistic outlook may not last, highlighting persistent rate pressures and broader trade volatility.

The airfreight sector faces volatility, with six months of unpredictable demand and tariff disruptions leaving it ‘at a crossroads.’ Despite a 6% year-on-year cargo volume rise in May, uncertainty drove the first spot rate drop in a year. Shippers are frontloading ahead of tariff pauses, while carriers shift capacity to Southeast Asia and Latin America to match changing trade flows.
Bangladesh exporters rush to beat tariff deadline for US bound cargo

As the August 7 cutoff approaches for U.S. tariff exemptions, Bangladeshi exporters have accelerated shipments to avoid newly imposed duties. At Chittagong Port, daily exports surged by 800 containers, totaling over 15,400 TEUs across 19 depots in a last-minute push to meet the deadline.
